three blind mice....or so...

Mouse Trap with cheese - isolated on white photo
we have a mouse problem. We noticed this little mouse because he kept leaving droppings on my counter in the kitchen, and because he was eating my no-bake-cookies! (horror of all horrors). Mouse poison has already been laid under the house, but apparently it is not doing the trick. We proceeded to buy a glue trap, and the next morning, lo and behold, a glue trap with a bunch of mouse hair on it. And this rodent is still doing its deed on my counter tops. J even baited the mouse with no-bake cookie pieces, to no avail. So we resorted to the mouse trap that kills - duh duh dun! So we were sitting in the living room watching a movie and all of a sudden SNAP CLANG! Took me a minute before I realized what had happened, and then J went and checked; we got the sorry little SOB! We left a couple of traps out just for good measure, but we were fairly certain there was only one (my mom promised there would be more, but I did not want to believe her). Next night, sitting in the living room and SNAP! what the?
and yes, we got another (this one looks like it is a mommy that had to abandon her babies cuz daddy did not bring home the bacon...or no-bake cookies)....and so on and so forth. Now we have added up 4 dead mice, but I'm not so sure that is the end of the story.

wait a minute....what was that I hear?.... :)

LMAO! Horror of all horrors! Shock and amaze! Tell John to stop wasting No Bake Cookies. For the love of all that is sacred, mail those cookies to me!

Good luck with the rest of your miceys. They are sneaking little buggers. I still feel sad when they are dead in the trap though ... if only they understood ultimatums.

Stranger Danger

Ok. So, we've talked to M about strangers a bit, telling her to be safe and what not. A couple of times she brings it up when we say no she can't do something and she says "because there are stangers?" or some such. We haven't talked about it recently, but apparently the message stuck: We were at Wal-Mart, had just finised checking out and J went to use the restroom and M wanted to get a drink from the water fountain -I was still a few steps behind, so M said "Mom will you come a little bit closer?" and I said yes, and she continued "because you wouldn't want a stranger to grab me." I smiled and said "No I wouldn't like that." And she said "You would say 'oh no! someone has taken my child!" At which point I couldn't help but laugh and tell her how much I loved her.

End of the week

This week has been lots of fun. J's mom, step-dad, sister and nephew all came to stay with us for the week. We've had a lot of fun visiting, playing games, and swimming. I'm so glad they came to visit us, aaallll the way from Idaho! We're lucky they had the time and all came! They are leaving in the morning because his step-dad has to work sunday afternoon! Crazy wonderful people. On another note, tomorrow J and I will have been married 3 years. I can hardly believe it's been three years....absolutely wonderful. I have never made a better decision in my life!

bribe

We had a fun weekend - we went to the zoo which was having family fun day, and then we went to the dog show (both of which were free). Then on Sunday we went to Greg & Robin's to see their new puppies, and they are stinkin' cute! And Greg BBQ'ed for us - yummy! At one point, while we were hanging out at their house, Robin sat down on the couch and asked M if she was gonna come sit by her, and M said: "I will sit by you if you get me a drink of water." (as she was climbing up on the couch next to her). And this would be the first time I have heard her use a bribe (and certainly not the last) - I told her maybe she should ask instead and she got embarassed.
