We finally got the opportunity to go camping! We've been wanting to for a while, but weren't actually capable of pulling it off...until this weekend. We went to Woodson Lake (I think) out by Toronto. It was a nice lake, and was not nearly as busy as I'm sure El Dorado Lake was. This was M's first time camping and she seemed to have a blast. She really enjoyed fishing with dad (I have cute pics I will share when I can) and swimming. J finally got to see M swimming...He hasn't seen her swim on her own with her floaties, so it was exciting. She was also keeping busy catching bugs...and incidently squishing them...as well as playing with the worms dad fished with. The first night was rough at bed time. I had to go lay down with her in the tent, but she was still too wound up to sleep. She crawled all over me, rolled all over the bed, and continued playing well into the night after J came to bed. And then all through the night, even though she was asleep, she was still rolling all over the place, laying on top of me, then laying on J with her feet on me, then laying on our heads ( all of which J slept through) and she ended up off the bed, on the floor of the tent (poor baby) and slept there the best. The second night she went to sleep on her own and was out entirely, we even moved her around a couple times and she stayed asleep. In any case we had a great weekend with perfect weather. It was a great break.
Ok. So, we've talked to M about strangers a bit, telling her to be safe and what not. A couple of times she brings it up when we say no she can't do something and she says "because there are stangers?" or some such. We haven't talked about it recently, but apparently the message stuck: We were at Wal-Mart, had just finised checking out and J went to use the restroom and M wanted to get a drink from the water fountain -I was still a few steps behind, so M said "Mom will you come a little bit closer?" and I said yes, and she continued "because you wouldn't want a stranger to grab me." I smiled and said "No I wouldn't like that." And she said "You would say 'oh no! someone has taken my child!" At which point I couldn't help but laugh and tell her how much I loved her.
