My two-year old...

M is acting like a two-year old the last few days...and I admit, it is driving me a little crazy. It's a good thing she's so stinkin' cute!! She is constantly doing a yes/no argument. M: I want chicken; K: okay, we can have chicken. M: No! no, chicken; K: okay, not chicken, what do you want then?; M: I want chicken.....eventually I stop and feed her whatever and she is throwing a fit whichever way I go. At dinner the other night we said a prayer, but M didn't want to participate so J and I stopped trying to get her to join and said a prayer anyway. This made M mad, and for about, oh, 10 minutes kept crying that she wanted to say a prayer. We would say, 'okay, M, we'll say one more prayer with you.' she would turn away and say, 'no prayer!' We gave up on this one too, but she wouldn't stop yelling and crying, so she got a time-out. Which didn't stop her from yelling and crying. In any case, it was a long dinner. And there are a lot more examples just like these......It's getting a little frustrating.
On the other hand...Yesterday night after dinner...well, M was still eating and I was sitting at the table with her while J was cleaning up the kitchen...I was talking to J about something ( I can't remember what) and started to complain to him. In the middle of my sentence, M turns to me and says "Mom. Stop Whining!" ...and, well, I did, cause I couldn't stop laughing! I told her sorry for whining, and that I will stop.

Silly baby. Wait 'til she has a sibling. THEN you will know conflict. Ha!

Stranger Danger

Ok. So, we've talked to M about strangers a bit, telling her to be safe and what not. A couple of times she brings it up when we say no she can't do something and she says "because there are stangers?" or some such. We haven't talked about it recently, but apparently the message stuck: We were at Wal-Mart, had just finised checking out and J went to use the restroom and M wanted to get a drink from the water fountain -I was still a few steps behind, so M said "Mom will you come a little bit closer?" and I said yes, and she continued "because you wouldn't want a stranger to grab me." I smiled and said "No I wouldn't like that." And she said "You would say 'oh no! someone has taken my child!" At which point I couldn't help but laugh and tell her how much I loved her.

End of the week

This week has been lots of fun. J's mom, step-dad, sister and nephew all came to stay with us for the week. We've had a lot of fun visiting, playing games, and swimming. I'm so glad they came to visit us, aaallll the way from Idaho! We're lucky they had the time and all came! They are leaving in the morning because his step-dad has to work sunday afternoon! Crazy wonderful people. On another note, tomorrow J and I will have been married 3 years. I can hardly believe it's been three years....absolutely wonderful. I have never made a better decision in my life!

bribe

We had a fun weekend - we went to the zoo which was having family fun day, and then we went to the dog show (both of which were free). Then on Sunday we went to Greg & Robin's to see their new puppies, and they are stinkin' cute! And Greg BBQ'ed for us - yummy! At one point, while we were hanging out at their house, Robin sat down on the couch and asked M if she was gonna come sit by her, and M said: "I will sit by you if you get me a drink of water." (as she was climbing up on the couch next to her). And this would be the first time I have heard her use a bribe (and certainly not the last) - I told her maybe she should ask instead and she got embarassed.
