Never enough from a 2 year old, right?

So, I totally forgot to share this story with all of you. We had all sat down for dinner on one of the nights that J's mom was here, and as I've told you M has been having trouble deciding to stay for dinner. So lately we've told her that she can't get down until she's all done, at which point we put away the rest of her dinner. Sometimes she's mad, sometimes she could care less. Well this time she was being very well behaved so far through dinner, and being a little goofy and having fun. She began to stand up in her chair, and as she did so she said " I know not to stand up until I'm all done" (from her it may have sounded more like "no no stand till all done" but the most the words were there, and the meaning was the same.) I looked at J and he had the same dumbstruck look on his face as I did. at the same time we both said "did you hear that?" We had heard the same thing. Crazy child. She preceded to sit back down and continue her dinner.

Something else a little funny: Whenever I go to the restroom with M she announces "Poop. Good Job, mommy!" (she refers to potty as poop) This makes me feel a little goofy when I step out of the stall in a public restroom.

Oh, yeah, public restrooms are just AWESOME while potty-training. C used to go, "Mommy, are you pooping? Cuz something TINKY in here!"

Chicken Adventure Begins

Our first step towards the 'homestead' lifestyle: CHICKENS.  J and I have been researching, reading books & articles, and saving a TON of info to our Pinterest board.  I know we are in for some surprises and troubles, but we are doing our best to head them off and avoid other peoples mistakes. (J is still trying to convince me that we need to start pigs this year.  I keep reminding him that is one of the PRIMARY mistakes other homesteaders have made: being too eager and getting in too deep, too fast). So, we start our garden and chickens this year - keeping our fingers crossed that we aren't putting them in poor locations.  The chickens are the first thing branching out into our additional 2 acres.  The coop and kennel are going at the outside, back corner of our fenced in yard.  Our coop is valiantly being made from old cabinets we picked up at the local Habitat for Humanity, Re-Store.  We intend to paint, add roof, prop up on legs, and insert s...

Caught Bare Bottomed.

Yesterday I went to retrieve my kids from playing in the backyard with the neighbors....When I round the corner I behold my 5 year old daughter with her shorts baring her bottom to the 6 year old neighbor boy. Me:  M!  E!  It is time to go home. now! M:  E did it too! (while sheepishly pulling her shorts back up and E snaps his head around to look at me with big eyes and "O" mouth) WHY?

Clearance Puppy

This has been a really crazy weekend. Thursday J got a call from a breeder he had been speaking to 3 or 4 months ago. We were going to go look at a puppy of his (with no real intention of buying) back then, but when we called the breeder said he just sold the last female 2 hours previously. Then on thursday he called to tell J that a buyer backed out last minute and J has first chance at getting her, so Friday we went to see her. She was discounted for us (and b/c she is older now, I think) and much more affordable - and so we brought her home, and her name is Sugar. Sug (shoog) for short. She is very sweet and calm, and listens really well. She is a yellow lab, and for all of you who have read the book or watched the movie - yes, we bought the "clearance puppy"! And actually we stopped at Blockbuster to return some movies and a big Marley & Me poster was in the window and M said :"Is that a picture of Sugar?" - I hope not! Saturday was the last 50 cen...
